Tutoring is one of the largest volunteer organisations at RUC, and it is often the first thing new students encounter at our university. That is why it matters that every year we have plenty of wonderful tutors who are ready to give the new students a warm welcome.
What is a tutor?
At RUC, the tutors plan and run the intro period for the new students in August. There are all kinds of activities (both social and academic) that have to be held, and a great deal of planning. We therefore need many different people, each of whom is good at something. The Chairs of Tutoring and RUSK prepare the tutors through seminars held in the spring and through the planning days in August before the new students arrive.
Every year we have 100+ volunteers who help create a fantastic intro period.
The social side
Tutoring is also a really good way to build social relationships – both within your own tutor team, across the faculties and with the new students. You gain a lot of new skills, learn about yourself and others, and make many new connections.
