The academic councils are the students’ academic organisation at the departments. They work closest to the study programmes and are a central part of the Student Council’s structure.
The academic councils at RUC
The academic councils’ place in the Student Council
The Student Council’s board has allocated seats for representatives of the academic councils – one representative for one academic council within each of RUC’s main areas. This ensures that the academic reality at the departments reaches all the way up through the organisation.
What is an academic council?
Under the Student Council’s statutes, an academic council must meet four criteria:
- The academic council has the same or similar democratic principles as the Student Council.
- The academic council does not contradict the Student Council’s statutes.
- The academic council has as a minimum the purpose of representing students’ academic interests.
- The academic council has a clear connection to the subject or department where it is based.
Do you want to be admitted as a member organisation?
Organisations that meet the criteria for an academic council may at any time be admitted as a member organisation by written application to the Student Council’s board.
